Loch Lamerough BridgeInscription Reads 10 September 2004 Hon MP Mr Paul Lucas William Landsbrough was born in 1825 on the family property “Lamerough” in Ayrshire Scotland. He explored Queensland extensively, was chosen by both the Victorian and Queensland governments to lead a search for Burke and Willis in 1861, and was the first person to cross Australia North to South in 1862. For his services he was awarded a land grant from the Queensland government, choosing some 2000 acres of land in the area now known as Golden Beach and Pelican Waters, which he named “Loch Lamerough” after his native home. In 1865 William Landsborough was appointed to Albert River Gulf M.L.A. , police magistrate and later crown lands commissioner. He returned to live at Lamerough in 1860. Passing away in 1866, he was buried in the area now occupied by the Golden Beach shops, but was later re-interned at Toowong Cemetery.

Rod McQueen ParkInscription reads When the Caloundra based Wallabies succeeded in winning the World Cup in November 1999, Rod McQueen became Australia’s most successful national coach. His team had already won back the Bledisloe Cups against New Zealand and notched up record victories against all the major rugby nations. He played 173 first Grade Matches for Sydney Club, Warringham, then went on to coach the top grade into grade finals. He successfully coached the NSW Waratahs and was foundation coach of the ACT Brumbies. While based in Caloundra Rod’s team held the Webb Ellis Cup, Bledisloe Cup, Cook Cup, Mandela Plate, Tri-Nations Trophy, Lansdowne Cup and the Hopetown Cup. He is just as well known for his achievements with Surf Life Saving, a life member of the Collaroy Club, after more than 25 years his fierce competitive streak was evident everywhere, but no more so then when rowing as stroke in the Senior Surfboat crews. McQueen helped win five state championships and two silver medals in the Australian titles. In the 2003 Australia Day Honours list Rod was awarded an AM.

John Participated in two successful World Cup campaigns, Captained the Wallabies in memorable victories including the 1999 World cup, led Australia through four successive years of Bledisloe Cup wins and two successful In a career that spanned 10 years, John played 86 tests for Australia, Captaining them on 55 occasions and accumulating 173 test points. During this time he was regarded as the most outstanding in World Rugby. His athleticism and natural leadership qualities made him an automatic selection in any World XV.
