Uluru is a large sandstone rock formation that appears out in the middle of no where in central Australia, in the Northern Territory, and is considered a great natural wonder of the world. Located in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, 350 km southwest of Alice Springs at 25 degrees 20' 41" S 131 degrees 01' 57" E. Uluru is the Aboriginal name for what is most commonly known as Ayers Rock, and is a sacred part of Aboriginal creation mythology, Uluru is notable for appearing to change colour as the different light strikes it at different times of the day and year, with sunset a particularly remarkable sight when it briefly glows red
