Bora Bora October 2009Photo Gallery by Pelican Waters Resident.
Bora Bora is located in the Pacific, French Polynesia; it is one of those places where you won't believe your eyes how beautiful it is unless you see it for yourself. James Cook sighted the island in 1769 and then landed in 1777 on a subsequent visit. However, in 1842 Bora Bora was made a protectorate of France. Following the 7 December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbour by Japan, the United States chose Bora Bora as a South Pacific military supply base. The base was officially closed on 2 June 1946, and remnants can still be seen on the island. During the August 2007 census, the population on Bora Bora Island was about 8,880 people.
Weather all year around is warm and tropical with the water temperature averaging mid 26C
