Emergency Planning information for Residents of Pelican Waters

Pelican Waters is in the state of Queensland in Australia which enjoys a sub Tropical climate; this means that the climate is pleasant throughout the region.

However, this also brings a host of natural disasters, such as the following:

• Bush Fires,
• Cyclones,
• Flooding

We have seen the impact of what flooding can cause in May 2009

All disasters have a major effect on communities, individuals and businesses. 
If households are prepared the impact of disasters can be reduced and the recovery time shorter.

The best time to prepare is now before an emergency situation occurs.

The following are just some of the disaster plans from Queensland government on how households can prepare and respond to any emergency situations.

All the plans should be clear and easy to understand and should be reviewed on a regular basis e.g. every 6 months or yearly, or what is suitable to the individual households.

All plans should be reviewed and changed every time circumstances change in households, e.g. Renovations carried out or Children leaving home.

All plans should make provisions for the elderly and people with disabilities who are members of the household.

All plans should be exercised and amended then dated to ensure recency and accuracy.
