Joan Royal Ford
05.04.1924  -  26.08.2008

Joan came to Caloundra as a child in the early 1930’s.  She became a stalwart of the community as well as one of Caloundra’s fierest and most loyal supporters.  Although involved with property management and land developments in Golden Beach, Pelican Waters and Aroona, she travelled widely and found time to work in voluntary roles for many local organisations, including Zonta until the last few weeks of her life.

From its inception in 1919, Zonta has consisted of women who are recognised leaders in their businesses and professions; its primary purpose is to provide services to humanity through cooperative efforts as well as developing the business skills of its members.  The Caloundra group was formed in February 1989 and has since undertaken many community projects.  Joan was a founding member, as well as the club historian and photographer.  This plaque and adjacent park seat have been donated by the Zonta Club of Caloundra City Inc.
In her memory.
